Show me the Red!
I was going on the road and just put my eye balls on the vodafone showroom. I found most of the things red there. I turned my head to the opposite direction and found banners of Airtel and Vodafone. Too much red color on both the banners. Again I noticed many things in red. Red colored bikes, cars, anything red was catching my eyes. Then I started assuming that most of the brands use red color for their brand. Vodafone, Airtel, Virgin (all products), Kingfisher (all products), Royal Challengers - Bangalore (IPL cricket team owned by Vijay Mallya, whose favorite color is red and he owns Kingfisher), The Mobile Store, Good Knight (mosquitoes are biting right now), Mortein, India Post, Metro Shoes and many more. Railway signals, traffic signals, Police van/car/jeep light, Minister and VIP car light all these are also red too. South Indian actor and model Tamanna, she looks gorgeous in red.
So why so much red there? Well it's science. Color red has a very high wavelength and low frequency as compared to other colors. That makes it easy to view and it attracts easily. Red is an erotic color too. That's one reason, in Indian marriage rituals, the bride wears red color dress, and both the bride and groom wear red color liquids (don't know how to explain that) on their feet.
But when I browse through the web, I don't see the red color more. The most attractive and most used colors on the web are (except black and gray) blue, green and orange. But red color has an important participation while showing delete button/link, error message or any thing danger. And as red color attracts our eye balls, we can use red color for any banner or important section of the web page to get the attention of the user.
We learned something from IPL, now it's time to learn form T20 World Cup, actually from Star Cricket's production for the matches. Normally the score card and score bar remains blue with a tint of green, but when there is a free hit after a no ball, the score bar turns to red and keep flashing with red and blue colors alternatively. That's one way they choose to attract our eye to that area over the TV screen.
Then why blue is used more on media and web? Even the windows default desktop background color is blue, default windows XP wallpaper is too blue. Orkut, Facebook all these are blue. Then why blue? My answer is blue is cool for eyes. It puts less strain to our eyes. Don't you like blue sky, blue ocean etc.? Even swimming pools are too blue.
Anyways, whether it's blue or red, both have some importance in product/web/brand designing. It depends where and when to use which color. Everything is as per our requirement, but red picks the attention easily, so use it intelligently. So what is your favorite color? (My favorite colors are pink and purple, not red or blue.) And which color will you pick for a design project? (You don't need to be a designer to answer this, please share your thoughts on it.)

One Night Stand and iPhone
At one night, Deb told me that a company got awesome money from a simple (but beautiful) iPhone application. He said in Oriya: "khali gote night stand", which I interpreted as "only one night stand". I got surprised that moment (however that moment last for a moment :P ). How one company can earn so much money form one night stand? Later I saw the image of the application on it's website and understood that what I interpreted was wrong! The application name is Night Stand and he was telling that it's a Night Stand which earned so much money from them. Look at the photo of iPhone below on which Night Stand was running. What will be the experience of One Night Stand while Night Stand runs on your iPhone? :P

Morning to Night - Bing Bing
What's Bing? For me it's something like a bird tweets "bing bing" or a child makes noise for for "bing bing" or something similar to Crazy Frog singing "bing bing bing bing prrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........".
As usual, looked at my Google Reader in the morning. Found Digital Inspiration blogged about Bing, a advance search engine (they prefer to call it as a decision engine), which which Microsoft will start a big battle with Google, the default choice for a search engine. Earlier Microsoft tried to be on the battle field with MSN Search, Live Search (Nothing was live there, better to call it as dead search!), and did not left any mark. But after seeing the video of Bing, I hope it may leave some mark on the search engine market. At first I did not take this seriously, I saw the related videos later at night.
I subscribe to MyToday News. MyToday is a free SMS subscription service which sends you free SMS on News, Cricket (news, scores), Bollywood news, etc. For News service, they send 2 SMS per day, one in the morning (delivers around 10 AM) and other in the evening (delivers around 5 PM). Generally one SMS includes 2 (rarely 3) News headlines and one advertisement at the bottom. But at headline number 2, it was "MS's 'Bing' to take on Google search"! Is it a headline or Ad? No, it's not as an Ad, it was like a headline. Then I started to think that, Bing is going to live today (29th May). I think Microsoft has paid a good money to MyToday to advertise like that!
Then I searched "Bing" (of course) on Google. And found first 2 results pointing to bing.im, the Mobile IM software. And 3rd result links to bing.com. Clicked on that result and found "Bing and decide, Coming Soon....". Then I <a href to decisionengine.com and but could not able to see the video (Silverlight is not installed on that system and Flash videos are disabled by proxy). So tried to satisfy myself by reading their letter on that web site. I noticed, Digital Inspiration comes on the top result of the search as compared to other popular blog, also above another link of Microsoft. Good! I think as a MVP, he got the news first and blogged.
After the evening people retweeted that Bing stands for “But It’s Not Google.” - TechCruch, I tweeted, If #bing stands for "But it's not Google", what does #kumo stand for?
Anyway, let's wait for Bing to start it's decision engine and now sing with me "Bing, Bing, Bing..... Bingo!"

Compare Laptops and get the Best Deal @ ConsumerMate.com
When I used to want to buy a laptop or help any friend to buy a laptop, what I was doing is going to dell.co.in (as my first preference is Dell), then search for some hp or Compaq laptops, and some other good brands like Acer etc. Then write all the specifications, price, etc. on a paper or fill in a spread sheet. Then time to compare on the paper or spread sheet. Again, search for any user review or comments. Too much difficult and takes a lot of time. Time is money, why should not we save this time and spend this money on the laptop?
After these difficult days, I found ConsumerMate.com. It's quite cool. I setup my budget, the other requirements and it listed out all the laptops available on market and all the information are provided at a managed manner, more better than what I used to on paper or spread sheet. This also includes the products rated by Digit Test Center (Digit is the most popular technology magazine of India). And when there are some hot deals, why will anyone want to miss them? For example, BenQ has announced that the new Joybook Lite U101 will be sold in India at an introductory price of Rs. 24500. The best thing is that you can know about the street price of every model, so no more bargain, to get at right price.
However ConsumerMate.com is limited to Laptop now, soon it's coming with other products. Waiting for that day.

Cold War Between A-List Bloggers and Rising Bloggers
Recently I came to know about a cold war between Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) and Hendrik (DuoBlogger), where Hendrik wrote about how A-List bloggers decrease the quality of their post and rely on their huge user base to earn money. A couple month back my friend Deb was telling how the top bloggers write only to earn money and increasing their Google pagerank by changing the way of writing a blog. Few bloggers started including other very less or no way related posts to their posts, so that it may carry some pagerank juice and some readers can click on those posts. One more thing I noticed is that some top bloggers post some silly or old tricks, information etc. to keep their post count ticking. And I found interesting is that few people posting comment on those silly post, like they don't knew that before and appreciate the author.
But the most important thing, in my opinion, which changed in recent days is the attitude of certain A-list bloggers. There was a time, when those bloggers follow up your comment and giving a reply to your questions or your constructive comment. Now they don't follow any of those comments. Just posting something good or useless and keeping them busy in getting ideas to earn more money. How could they find some time to reply what their readers think. The point here is they don't worry to loose one from the existing reader base. This is because, they became so popular that if one user is decreasing from the number, ten more are getting added. Why do they care about them?
What do you think about the A-List Bloggers? Who are the top bloggers not blogging for money? I know someone, who is a good blogger, no idea he comes in A-list or not, but you will like to read his blog. He is Head, TCS Innovation Lab - Web 2.0 at TCS. But you will never find any geeky stuff there. I enjoy reading his blog, hope you will too like that.

Sell Remote Computer Help
Are you good in solving problems of computer? But unfortunately don't have any job (recession may be a cause)? Then why don't you sell your service online, by helping people, solving their problems online. CrossLoop is such a service, where you can sell your service to other people and get paid. You need to use their software for remote connect. You can use their software to help any of your friends for free too. However I don't like the speed and quality of the images (as compared to logmein.com), but if it can pay you for your help, then good to try.

Providing Information in Your Business
These days, I want to send one parcel to US, so I wanted to know the estimated time and cost for the shipping. Some of the parcel services came into my mind, UPS, FedEx, DHL, TNT etc. I am looking for a cheaper solution, but can't go with India Post, because of complexity of custom process, however this option seems to be the cheapest option.
First I tried to estimate at UPS, and the results I got is unbelievable. It shows less price (INR 2xxx) for the best service they have, which is even less than the cheapest solution from them. When I clicked there to see in detail, it says the actual price (INR 6xxx). Wherever I mentioned INR here, is INR in actual, but the website shows it as USD. If someone thinks about USD 6,265.88 to send a parcel of 7lbs (3.5 Kg, approx), the lips only utters 'WTF?'.
Now it's time to check FedEx. However, I found it's easy to estimate, but there is only one option, one plan.
Now I moved to DHL. Whereas the global website looks good, the India website does not look good and it's full of broken links and many things which does not work. Having a website with good looking yellow color, bad looking design and no information which you need, is what DHL India website.
At last I checked at TNT. Very easy to navigate to get the estimate for shipping. And the price is even low as compared to other services. So now thinking to choose TNT to ship. Let's see what happens next?
So if you are some business and have a website, the website is for providing information about your business, not to have it on your business card only. Some business have a domain name, which they primarily use for email id, and just put something to fill the website for domain. It's important to provide useful information about your business, which need to be easily accessible. Easily accessible means the the user can easily get what they need, a better navigation, easy to understand layout. Accessible also means, that search engines find it easy to index, so that your website come in the top results when anyone searches the information which your business provides. And why do anyone shy to say what she says? And when you have some competitors, then it becomes more important to provide the perfect information easily and win your customer.
Which service do you like and suggest? Do you have any bad or good experience with shipping something?

Theft on the web and Brand awareness
Recently I found The Markup Dude changed his portfolio design. Then I came to know that someone (a front-end developer from 2006) stolen the design and put it on his portfolio. This worried Deb (the dude) and he changes his portfolio design. See this image for the original and copycat.
Deb tried to put that design off from that site. So he emailed that guy and some of his clients about this theft. And it worked! That guy changed his portfolio design. So it became a winning story for Deb.
Now come to the second part - the brand awareness. Your design is popular, this means you have the potential for a brand. A in case of Deb, his design is already featured in many css and design showsites (I coin showsites = showcases + websites). That guy who copied it must have got this from any of those showsites. This implies that the design is good and popular. When I think about markupdue.com, that particular design comes into my mind and when I think about The Mobile Store, that red color poly-bag comes into my mind.
There are few blogs who provide their theme for free download, so that admirers of that blog design can use this on their blogs (wordpress or blogger). This helps them to build their brand. Anyways, the design of your website affects your brand in a big way. So what do you think about the "Worry of Deb on design theft"? Does anyone can share the brand value or add more importance to the it by coping the design? Anywhere on the web you will see any bird, do you think about twitter? And what comes to your mind, when you see a whale (of course failed!)?

Marketing Lessons from IPL
IPL fever is on again. And this brings many organic search visitors to the posts I made last year. Well this is not the lesson I am going to tell!
When you want to know a players name, where will you look at? As the trend of designing a sports jersey says, look at the back of the player, below his neck and above the jersey number. But while watching IPL matched today, I was looking at that area for the players name, but I only able to see the sponsors' name/logo. Not just one team, all 4 teams have the same design. And the name of the player goes down to the jersey number.
Have a look at a photo of last year IPL and notice where is the players' name written.
Now look at the some photos collected today and find players' name.
It's all about visibility. We all are habituated to look at one place. So when we look at that place, we can see the name/logo of the sponsoring company. So this makes that name/logo more visible. The problem is that in the TV screen the name of the player not visible always.
What lesson we can learn from it?
When we design a website, we can use this idea. Now don't follow the trend. Figure out where people used to look from years and put the stuff there, which you want to be get more attention.

YouTube helped to verify phone number
The world knows YouTube as a video sharing website. But the title of this post says something different. Sounds interesting?
One of my friend need to verify his phone number for a website registration process. And the verification process was quite different. You will get a call on your phone from the website and after receiving the call you need to press # key confirming that you were expecting that call. Then you need to speak a number (one digit at a time) shown the website. Remember, you need to speak the number (you don't have to type the number) and the IVR will recognize the number from your voice and match the number with the number shown on the website.
Day 1, Take 1
First call came and we made a mistake by not speaking the number, instead we typed the number. And it was obvious that it should be failed.
Day 1, Take 2
This time I spoke the number one by one. And the IVRS said it's incorrect. There were three chances in that call to spoke the number. I ended up with failed verification.
Day 1, Take 3
The same story as take 2. Now we have used maximum number of attempts for the day.
Day 2, Take 1
A new day and new beginning. Before the verification process, we discussed a bit on this. I said it may the problem with my accent. (I had the youtube idea on the mind.) This time my friend said he will speak the number. So now he tried to speak that number and ended with the failed verification result.
Day 2, Take 2
Now I forced on the youtube idea. The idea was simple, there is an option for audio preview of the comment you want to post. So my idea was to put the number (each digit separated by space/comma/newline, so that it'll read it one digit at a time) in the text area and click on the audio preview button. While doing this, we need to keep the mic of phone near the computer speaker. But the the audio preview was bit fast than we expected, so a little worry was in my mind. However we tried it and get success to verify the phone number.
My friend says that I got an intelligent brain inside, but I give the credit to YouTube.

JavaScript sidebar widget plugin for WordPress : uses source
This is a very simple sidebar widget which places JavaScript code in the widget. In this plugin, you need to provide the url of the JavaScript and this plugin will use that js file as it's source.
Download the plugin here
I will go through all the JavaScript codes we use generally in our websites or blogs and will update compatibility list here.
Usage:
- BidVertiser Ads
BidVertiser Ads codes provide an URL of JavaScript code, which you need to include as the source in a JavaScript block. Get the url from the code generated from BidVertiser and provide while editing the widget values and you can see the ads in this sidebar widget.
Snapshots will be provided soon
If you want to put any JavaScript code inside the <script> tag, then try my JavaScript Block Widget plugin (Download).
Update
You can also able to add JavaScript codes in text widget in sidebar. So you don't need this plugin.

Copyright and HTML
Now I am going to explain how copyright is related with HTML.
If you write the following code in html:
Code:
<a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3475/3362464113_c8a721e308.jpg">Copyrighted photo</a>
Preview
Copyrighted photo
The above code is not infringement of copyright of the owner.
Just make a little modification to the above html code. Replace a by img, replace href, also remove the text in between the html tags. For XHTML validation, you can remove the img inside the closing tag and replace the code &rt;< by a blank space or white space. (You can even just delete it). Now the code becomes:
Code:
<img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3475/3362464113_c8a721e308.jpg"/>
Preview
Please excuse me; I can't show you the preview here, it may infringement of copyright of the owner. However you can try it yourself :P
Well, now using the above code can be a infringement of copyright of the owner.

Manage Twitter and Identica together
I was at OSI Tech Days and heard about Identica - a microblogging service (like twitter), which runs Laconica - The Open Microblogging Tool. Thought to have a trial and found it cool. I registered myself using an OpenId and got started. I found some features are really cool at Identica.
It provides you a service URL Auto-shortening, with an option of 8 services to choose from. It also included none, if you don't like to shorten any url.
A label at Identica Automatically subscribe to whoever subscribes to me (best for non-humans) is humorous and also a fact. This auto follow is never a behavior of any human. I found difficulty while choosing my timezone. I think timezone need to be sorted according to difference from GMT and should have difference mentioned there.
How to Manage Twitter and Identica together?
Now let me come to the this point as the title suggests. I will tell you about some features of Identica and some other tools, the way I discovered this way.
There is a settings option for your twitter account (Wow! it shows twitter's popularity), where you can provide your twitter account. By providing your twitter account, it automatically sends your notices to Twitter, and subscribe to Twitter friends already here. Something really funny happens here. If your reply someone at Identica, after updating this at Twitter (automatically), the reply may refer to other guy with similar id at twitter. I may cause some embarrassing situations. I got lucky, I have similar id at both places. However this option enables you to update Identica and twitter at a time.
Let's think about any third party tool for Identica, we have loads of option for twitter. I have not spend any time for searching such tools for Identica. But there is an IM Settings option, where you can set your Jabber/Gtalk id and post and receive updates. I found this feature cool and started using it. I update using my Gtalk client and it updates Identica, and Identica updates twitter.
Again I found a third party tool: Ping.fm, which has many applications on it's network list. I selected twitter, Identica and my Gtalk status to be updated via Ping.fm. Not feeling good to come to the web interface to post my updates. And found that, I can use Gtalk to update Ping.fm, similarly I used for Identica (However, they style of operation is bit different). Now if I want to update both twitter and Identica, I can just update to Pingbot via Gtalk. I am using Ping.fm as it also updates my Gtalk status (however fails sometimes to update my gtalk status), else I have another option to update Identica from my Gtalk.
One important thing is that, when I use Ping.fm, it updates both Identica and tweeter and at this case Identica does not to twitter, so it prevents duplicate posts at twitter. I think, Identica tries to update twitter, but twitter refuses as the duplicate content of most recent post. You can turn off the twitter settings at Identica, if you are using any third party tool to update both at a same time.
You can follow me on identi.ca also.
Update 15 March
Now I am using Twhirl. It runs on Adobe Air. I am able to update either twitter or Identica with Ping.fm (you can set your ping.fm account to update with any of these account: twitter or Identica). So if you are updating twitter, Ping.fm will update Identica. Similarly if you are updating Identica, Ping.fm will update twitter.
To reduce unnecessary wastage of requests, I did some changing in Connect settings of Identica. Now my Identica is not sending any message to Gtalk and not updating twitter also.

How to Use Syntax Highlighter in Blogger
You can use this tutorial not only with Blogger, but also in your other websites and blogs.
What is Syntax Highlighter?
SyntaxHighlighter is a combination of some JavaScript, CSS (and of course, a flash (.swf) file for copy to clip board function), which we can use in any of our websites, to give an illustrative look to any code example.
As in this blog, I mostly talk about technology, which also includes some codding part (I need to give some example codes), I decided to use this here.
Where to get SyntaxHighlighter?
SyntaxHighlighter is a donationware. This means you need to donate to get latest release. However little old but good version is available for free. I am using Version 1.5.1 here.
I downloaded those files, now what to do?
I hope you have extracted the files already. Now you can see there 3 folders: Scripts, Styles and Uncompressed. Scripts contains JavaScript and Flash file, Styles contains CSS files and Uncompressed contains uncompressed JavaScript which you can have a look and modify, if you need. Now you need to upload the files in Scripts and Styles folders to your server. If you are using blogger, then you need to host files somewhere else on the Internet, I would recommend to use XtreemHost.
For non Blogger websites and blogs
Now if you have a website/blog other than blogger, then the following code at the bottom of the web page. I would recommend to place this code just before closing body element.
<link href='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/SyntaxHighlighter.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shCore.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushCpp.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushCSharp.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushCss.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushJava.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushJScript.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushSql.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script src='[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/shBrushXml.js' type='text/javascript'/>
<script language="javascript">
dp.SyntaxHighlighter.ClipboardSwf = '[RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE]/clipboard.swf';
dp.SyntaxHighlighter.HighlightAll('code');
</script>
Remember to replace the code [RELATIVE PATH TO THIS FILE] with the actual relative path.
How to place code blocks or code examples?
This is the part, which going to be displayed as your code examples with SyntaxHighlighter. You can write your code either inside a <pre> tag or <textarea> tag. If you are using pre tag, then you need to replace < with < inside the code block. In case textarea no need to care this. You have to Set name attribute to code and class attribute to one of the language aliases you wish to use. See example below:
<pre name="code" class="html">
... some code here ...
</pre>

Don't spend time on the bug someone already fixed
Bug, a integrate part of development. If you have developed some application, then there may be some bug. If you are unable to find a bug, that does not mean that the code is 100% perfect. And we learn many things from the bug. In my case, if I unable to find at least two bugs from my code, then I think there is something seriously wrong (Still I am a good coder ;) ). Some bugs easily fixed and some take more time to fix. If you have a good experience, then there may be a chance that you can fix the bug easily, you may be come across it before. Think, if you seeing the bug for the first time and you have no clue about the reason and the solution? You may end with wasting a lot of your valuable time.
Their goal:
No human should work on an error that has already been solved.
I am talking about an interesting platform, bug.gd. It's am Error Search and Collaboration tool, which helps you search for errors that other people have encountered. And the logic is quite simple, but great: why should you spend time on the error, if someone already fixed it? Using this is also quite simple. Just type something about your error and you will find a list of errors matching with your keywords. And you can get the solution there. They will you your email id (optional), so that you can create a profile for you and track all your error, fixes etc. In 48 hours, they will ask you, how you solved this problem.
It not only searches in its own database, but also searches in Microsoft, Apple, RedHat support sites and Linux forums. With addition to searching for your error, you can also download some tools for your browser,
Also you can create a free error database for your company at ErrorHelp.com.
And the registration is very easy, just give an email id and your profile is created. Everything is good, but only thing I am thinking about, why it's not asking me any password while log in!

Rs 700 investment worths Rs 1.5 Lacs
I got one online tool Stimator some days back, which estimates the value of your website. In curiosity I checked Love Orkut value there. Then it showed me some value just above to $3000 (approximately 1.5 lacs in INR) [now it shows $411 - market crashed down :( ].
Well let me tell you about Love Orkut, I started it in the early 2008. Registered domain name for Rs 295 and opted for a free hosting at xtreemhost. Selected a free template for the design from Open Source Web Design and started coding (in PHP and MySQL) for the website. Collected scraps, testimonials from my old collection and searched some good photos from Flickr, Loving Hugs, Photo Bucket etc. to add the most popular section, Photo Scraps. I have not counted the time spent on it. If I could have a track of this, then I could tell you better, if I am in profit or in loss. I added many things to this, which does not cost anyone: love, passion, knowledge, experience etc. It took time for me to earn money from this site, but I got increase in it's visibility. The number of page loads, unique visitors, direct visitors and returning visitors increasing day by day (Still I can manage this in free hosting).
In last one year the money I able to make is just above INR 10,000. I spend another 400 rupees for renewing the domain name. In this way I invested Rs 700. Let me justify its value for INR 1.5 Lac. If you deposit INR 1.5 Lac in Post Office Monthly Income Scheme (8% interest rate per yer, calculated and credited each month and goes for 6 years, after maturity pays 15% bonus with the face deposit), you can earn INR 1000 each month. I am earning more than that (not for doing anything, what I do for this site is not for today, for future) each month! In this way it worth INR 1.5 lac.
Till when I can run and earn from it:
- When Orkut will be shut down or banned (in India, I got most of the visitors from India)
- When people stop using Orkut
- When people will be get bored with the old contents
- When I will not renew the domain name
- And some unknown reason
And then I will lost all of 1.5 lac or more, which never happens when you invest money in other places. So this is my 700 Bucks story. If you have any idea to execute (don't worry, if it's a small one), please execute and you will be happy and successful in future. Let me know, if you need any kind of help.

IE 7 Renders Image Badly
I got surprised when I saw IE 7 is rendering some image so badly, whereas Firefox is rendering it perfectly. No more to say, this picture will tell you all.
Updated
Deb read this post and came with the solution. He asked to use
img { -ms-interpolation-mode:bicubic; }in CSS. I used this and now IE 7 renders the images properly. He treats this as non standard MS proprietary CSS. About the problem he explains: if the image is being stretched a bit, or is bigger than it is supposed to be IE does not scale it properly. Many thanks to him for sharing this bit of knowledge. If you are searching for any image rendering problem in IE can use this bit of CSS. Many thanks to Deb.
Deb is a freelancer who designs XHTML/CSS. You can see his portfolio and hire him for all your markup related jobs.

Where is IST (GMT + 05.5)
I was filling a form in a website and found the drop down list for timezone has listed all timezones which differs from GMT by a multiple of an hour. So many timezones which differs by a multiple of an hour plus 30 minutes are out of the list, and IST (GMT + 05.5) is out of the list. So how can I feel it? One thing I am thinking, the developer who developed that form is unaware of all timezones, or thinks every timezone only differs by a multiple of an hour? Or it may be an error while coding which makes those timezones out?

Google Said Sorry
Before an hour the world saw Google saying the WWW is infected and can harm your computer. At that time, I was browsing Google Webmasters Tool and I redirected to a page, in the domain name sorry.google.com and it said me query looks like from a virus or a spyware. Here is the image. I think this error message is somehow related to the Google Search Issue.

Pop up ads in Orkut
I saw a pop up ad in Orkut today. This ad is served by an OpenSocial application. There are many OpenSocial applications which serve text ads, but the one I encountered today is a pop up. I hate pop up ads and so others also. This ad is invoked by a JavaScript, which runs by the OpenSource application. And some application can have malicious script, which can be dangerous. So be careful while adding a new OpenSocial application to your profile.

HTML and CSS Reference in Mozilla Firefox - FireScope
Suppose you are designing a web page and stuck some where and then you need to refer a good resource: it may be a good book or any good reference on the web. Think, if you can get it in your browser (Mozilla Firefox - Browser boleto Firefox). It is possible now by FireScope. FireScope is a Firefox addon which works together with FireBug and provides reference material for HTML and CSS. This tool FireScope is developed by SitePoint, which provides high quality books and reference materials on web development. How to add TwitThis to your blogger blog
What is TwitThis?
TwitThis is an easy way for people to send Twitter messages about your blog post or website. When visitors to your website click on the TwitThis button or link, it takes the URL of the webpage and creates a shorter URL using TinyURL. Then visitors can send this shortened URL and a description of the web page to all of their friends on Twitter.
How to add TwitThis to your blogger blog
Goto layout page of your Blogger blog. Then click on "Edit HTML" link at the top of the page. Now check Expand Widget Templates checkbox. Now go inside div of class='post-body' (search for <div class='post-body'>) and paste the code before the end tag of paragraph (</p>).
I recommend you to use the modified code of this, as I reduced one line of JavaScript and used HTML for the link.

Google Your Names
It's interesting and fun to search your names in search engines, specifically Google. Sometimes you may find links related you or related to other people sharing your name. And if you want to know about any person, you may try to google their name. You may find some related information. Gone those days, when you can only get information about popular people from other websites and wikipedia etc. Allowing search engines to index profile pages of LikedIn, FaceBook, etc. made it easier for other people to make a online identity searchable be search engines. In addition to this Google also shows suggestions with any name of the person. Now you can easily find out which are the most searched and mostly available (on the world wide web) names.

YouTube - Show On - Turn Down the Lights
The theater is dark, while watching any movie. Just think, what if they will lit up the theater, will you enjoy the movie? Surely No. Exactly, this concept applies to a white background web page with an embed video. So YouTube take a new step to Turn down the lights. By clicking on the button, the screen will be covered by a dark gray background and some unnecessary item will not be displayed there.
Just experience watching some videos with turning down the lights of the screen. You feel your eyes less tired. And when need any control or other stuffs just turn up the lights.

Ads by Google in YouTube
Wish you a very happy new year. However it may be late to wish you, so please forgive me. Anyways this is my first post of the year.
Today I saw Google Ads on YouTube video. These ads are text ads and appears above the lower part of the video. Google added this feature to YouTube videos bit late. But one thing I dislike is Google ads covers the second related video on the screen when playback finishes. See the image below.
And I am waiting for the day, when they will show Video Advertisements before or/and after the video.
